What do you think of value of this '88 911 Coupe?

Hey guys, what do you think this one should cost?

No real maintenance history. Seems to be parked in a collection for bunch of years until very recently.

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/720382596/overview/

Do you see anything of concern or added value in the photos? I can see that driver seat has some leather sagging.

Dealer said it is a trade in, but of course doesn't really know anything about it.

Thanks for your help!

For starters - chromed fuchs are a negative, as is the mileage. I've seen other G50 911's that were nicer for less money. Curious about the paint - no mention of being original, and with 14x,xxx miles - not likely.

I would want to see a lot of service records.
Where has car lived? Has it been in the rain a lot, salty roads?
With that many miles I would expect a recent engine rebuild and a lot of service history for the asking price.
PPI.
Oh, and also, don't forget a PPI.

They claim meticulously maintained - yet no service history.??

That lie in the ad and the drivers seat that blew-up should be enough red flags to run from this one.

Stay away from that Black car you posted. Way too many red flags.

Here's an example of a great deal on a late G Body 911 that recently sold (color is love/hate). I've seen this car in person and it's real clean. Bought by Matt Farah @ The Smoking Tire.

At what price would it be a good deal?

$25,000 to $28,000. 145K really is not high mileage for a 3,2L.

Spec1Inc......... your opinion?

Seriously, there is so little information to go on that it's nearly impossible to form anything but a very cursory opinion. Year, price, mileage; that's about it.

But at 145K, I'd be wanting records, record, records. Short of those, I'd be nervous about the price.

I agree a bit more patience will uncover a much nicer car......

example the 55,000 mile 88 coupe just sold last week on BaT for $43,XXX.

Ok Slacker, do yourself a big favor and explore the 911 market before you dive head first into this car.

Go to CAR GURU's, try the SC-Carrera years (1978 - 1989 911). Plug in your zip code, hit NATIONWIDE search and you will see no less than 15 pages of used 911's offered from around the nation. Better prices, lower mileage, from cabs to coupes they await your review.

YOU DO NOT BUY a Porsche without records unless it belonged to your best friend and you kept up the maintenance with him.

Narrow your search, have a Pre-Inspection performed, review the report, negotiate, purchase, transport and you will have a happier life.

Personally, I would stay away from this car myself and search elsewhere.

Disagree with the nicer car example .. 88 had obvious bodywork. That’s fairly significant to any buyer.

Pink is a deal killer for most.

Agreed. If that exact car was Silver/Black it would fetch mid $40s all day. Great deal for a real clean G50 coupe none the less. Guess it's turning into a Safari build anyhow.

Might be a bit low on the value, my friends old 87 Targa with 190,000 miles (without a rebuild) that had a so-so repaint without removing glass or trim sold on BAT for $30K

Agree to disagree..... I'd rather deal with minor fitment / alignment issues...... minor stop over at Esposito's.....

$28k would be a screaming deal if the car was solid mechanically. I doubt the dealer will let it go any where near that price.

The mangled drivers seat & stained mats instantly turns me off from that example at their $37,985 ask.

Yes. The interior condition does not speak well to the potential that the mechanicals are in top-notch shape. Fixing those interior glitches is couch-cushion money in comparison to fixing drivetrain issues.

Dealer is super cool and is willing to work on the price. However, I think I learned my lesson with no service history Porsches so I will pay.

I am glad I asked you because from my research online this seemed like a pretty good deal. Now I see what real enthusiasts value it at.

Thanks everyone for your advice.
