WTB: OEM Motronic Chip

Because my fuel pump runs constantly after reinstallation of my stock chip, it is apparent that I managed to fry it somehow. Looking for a stock chip for my '99, part number I need is 1 037 350 162. Does anyone have one of these to sell that they know is good?

Thanks,
John

John. I have a chip sitting around somewhere that needs to go in my 99, but it would been July until I got it swapped in with stock chip... If you are still in need of one then let me know.

VetteRacer - Now this would be ironic! You bought your S from my riding buddy, and it would be funny if the chip from his bike found its way into mine via a third party/the new owner. Small world.

The more I think about this, the more unsure I am about refitting a stock chip. I thought I was properly grounded both when I removed mine (installed a Laser system a while back) and when I reinstalled it, yet somehow it got zapped with static electricity and is a tiny boat anchor now. I understand the Laser chip to be much more sturdy in regard to static electricity. Even if you successfully remove your stocker (how could we know for sure?), I might fry it, and that could leave you and I not sure who zapped it and who owes who what. A potentially messy situation, to be sure.

I think now I may as well try reinstalling the Laser chip again first, and if that still works I'll just keep that system installed after all. If that doesn't work, maybe we can work out something on your OEM chip (provided it's the right P/N, of course).

Thanks

Let me know. My wife offered up the car for rest of the week, so bike is able to be taken down.

I tried to email him back but the email bounced..

I have an extra stock chip (actually I have the whole computer) that you can have to see it if works if you want. I have to check the number on it. It's off an '02 so I'm not sure if it's old enough for you. Email me at mcholt212@verizon.net and let me know if you want me to drop it in the mail for you. It's just gathering dust right now.

Thanks for all the replies, but looks like I'm going to keep the Laser system installed after all. Reinstalled the Laser chip this evening and the fuel pump shuts off like it's supposed to, so I guess my shocking personality didn't zap that chip too. I was really only looking at pulling the Laser system and selling it to help finance the next addition to my stable, I guess I'll just have to save a while longer!

Guys - if someone needs a stock chip for a 1999 BMW R1100S I have one that I can provide.

However, if you have previously installed a LASER performance chip I have recently learned that we cannot revert to the OEM chip. Apparently something gets coded onto the ECU that prevents backward migration.

I spoke to Robert Foster this morning and that is why I am selling my exhaust without the laser chip... .. . the OEM chip doesn't operate my system anymore.

Robert confirmed that the early motronic units are irreversibly affected by the change of chip.
