A lightwieght flywheel on a stock 4 cyl. 914 is a waste of time. In fact, you'll find it frustrating on a street engine.

Additionally, only the 6 spring version is available these days.

Yes, a vacuum leak CAN prevent a car from starting. L-Jetronic is pretty sensitive to vacuum leaks as well

Check/replace ALL hoses including the valve cover gaskets and also the oil filler cap.

You drill out the ignition tumbler (where the key goes) until you can remove the tumbler pins and remove the cylinder.

I'd reccomend having a locksmith look at it first if you've never done this...
