915 Rebuild Update

To this point, I have used regular tools, no factory thing-a-majigs, or presses. I did make one tool out of an old clutch plate.

Wow! All that progress from one day! Impressive.

To remove the 46mm nut, I pegged the old clutch to a wall instead of making a tool out of it. Your method might be a bit safer.

Guilty as charged. Here's another one. My synchro hubs were pressed on so darn tight I really wished I had the factory tool for the job. To replicate its function, I decided to sacrifice a couple of those big lock rings and some cheap wrenches by rigging up the thingamajig shown below.

A big socket fit perfectly into the gear. After a LOT of persuasion with a 3 lb sledge, they finally came off the gear. And yes, that wrench bent quite a few times... call it cold-hardening.
