Has anyone tried EXP4 Oil additive?
I was watching Dream Car Garage this afternoon and they had a segment on EXP4 Oil additive. The hosts didn't believe an additive could reduce enough friction to a measurable amount that would increase horsepower. The results showed a 5% increase in power on a 198 hp motor. The dyno # was 207 after the oil additive was used. I remember the days of Slick 50, claiming the same results; nobody noticed any gains. Is it possible to reduce enough friction to gain 5% in horsepower? Any thoughts from the master engine builders?
Regards, J.P. Here's the website: www.exp4additives.com Last edited by jpahemi; 01-23-2005 at 01:42 PM.. |

LOL, they said it was good on the TV show, it must be good!
I don't know if it's for real or not, I haven't tried it but as i was watching that show i was laughing at how the guys on the show appear to be "product whores" and will say anything for an advertising dollar. How many segments did they do at the brake pad factory? I trust that fat guy as far as i can throw him. |

A freind of mine used some once. Spilled some on his lap. Improved his sex life for nearly 6 months! - till he got married.

If you just changed the oil and filter, you'd see a slight gain. I think that all that additive stuff is just s--t. Nothin beats quality oil like Mobile one

It might work, it might reduce friction, it might increase horsepower.
I really don't know. I do know this: The oil companies and the car manufacturers spend many, many millions every year trying to develop something that will give them the type of advantage something like this additive claims. If the oil companies and GM, Ford, etc. can't come up with it how does a small little company with little or no R&D budget suddely stumble onto a magic cure? Marketing that's how. One thing for sure, I won't take the word of those info-mercial pitchmen pretending to host a car show. They will sell anything as long as it keeps the show on the air. I saw one of those shows praising the performance of the tornado air swirling thing once, saying how well it worked. Yeah right. Magnetic fuel line performance improvers, slick 50 snake oil, Split-fire spark plugs, it's all the same in my book. When pelicanites start using it and saying it really works, then I'll believe it ![]() |

9 claimed horspower gain out of base of 198 fails the "first cut" square root of N test for statistical significance; would need to see more than a 14 horsepwer gain to begin proving there was a real improvement. Jim
