Is this an Al Reed site ?

If not, looks good. Anybody know of them?

They are uber snobby wheel guys who mostly cater to high-end sales... I think they require a credit check for just entering they're showroom.

By reputation, Al Reed is much more people friendly with their ma and pa shop attitude... Al is highly recommended.

No, not Al Reed but Wheel Enhancement. (The name of the web site is the name of the company). Al Reed doesn't own a computer, so no web site.

Al Reed has always been considered the best dollar value in wheel refinishing, (though lately he has raised his prices somewhat), Wheel Enhancement would be the opposite.

Here's his contact info: Al Reed

No website. Just great service, high skill, great prices, and a pleasure to deal with.

Another great choice is Harvey Weidman. He just redid my wheels and they look great. Some of you saw them at Dunkels. Pics to show up shortly.

This kills me in this day and age! By the rep he's got here and the photos, I've seen, he must be doing alright without it though.

I think Wheel Enhancement used to be "Wheels by Robert Woods". At least there's some connection from what I recall.

Believe it or not, there are still some businesses that get by just fine w/o computers. Al Reed started out in his garage in '74, I beileve, and time hasn't move forward much since. EXCEPT, he has state of the art tire mounting equipment (you think he'd scratch his own wheels?) and some pretty hefty investment in polishing equipment. But, by and large, it's a low tech, hand done process and that will prpbably not change until someone builds a robot that will polish wheels.

After all these years, it's amazing that Al and Diane are still enthusiastic, attentive and doing quality work at resonable prices. Oh, and he's also very polite, he will talk to you as long as you like and others wait their turn. He's not in a rush.

I bought some aftermarket Kinesis wheels and Kumho tires from Wheel Enhancement and I've had super customer support from them--responsive to emails, questions on phone, call-backs and such and the pricing was good so absolutely no complaints from me. I'd recommend them don't know why they deserve any bashing.

I just had my 8s polished by Al Reed and I couldn't be any happier. Al and Diane are wonderful people.

When I was telling him that he gets a lot of press here on the Pelican BBS, he told me that back in the day the people that would bring him wheels would not tell others about Al's work. I found that funny. It was like everyone's secret.

But now I think word of mouth brings him a lot of repeat business.

No bashing...just honest feedback on the bend over pricing as compared to the other shops who do comparable work.

Mike, you are refering to the refinishing cost, or the cost of new wheels?

Thanks,

Tom

I had "Wheel Collision Center" refinish a set of 18" sport classics I had. They did a great job and had a reasonable turn around time. They're in Bath PA

There are cnc wheel posishing robots. The equiptment is just too expensive for anything but high production companys.

Has anyone tried to repaint their Fuchs themselves? I have a set of 8x9x16's that are track tires - hence, will get abused out there. I don't want to spend the money to refinish them, and they've been stripped. I'm going for the semi-polish look. Any thoughts?

Do a search here on the board. There are probably dozens of threads by guys who have repainted their own Fuchs. You'll find various methods that have been used successfully.
