XLnt installation -- where did you get the metal piece that holds both coils? I need one.

ANd, where does the MSD/coil/etc. flat sheet metal assembly mount in the car?

Looks great. Just out of curiosity (sp) what's a RSR twin plug cap and rotor cost these days? The reason I ask is I saw a RSR twin plug distributor for sale last weekend at Parts Heaven, and entertained the idea of buying it for a brief second.

Rob and Randy -

Bummed not to be at the camp out this weekend - but I'm sure that your buds will post some great pics.

The MSD panel will be mounted on the inside of the car. This will make the car much more reliable, as I run it in ice racing during the winter - and this stuff will be more protected.

Last weighed in just under 1900. However that was sans 6 hood lights and pair of 935 seats. Anything under 2000 lbs is fine with me! I am foaming at the mouth( F.A.T.M.) for a dyno sheet too. Alot has changed since last summers dyno runs. Diff carb settings, 906 intakle manifolds, stainless steel valves, head work and headers. As this is the "2nd generation" 2.5 shortstroke in this car...we have learned alot over the past few years to make them faster( and reliable).

Money is what makes them better The real trick seems to be balancing value vs the B.S. factor. Lots of wild claims out there from shops, and sometimes very litle proof. P&C selection comes to mind here, as well as cam grind.

Some victories....
1. jet hot coating( this stuff rocks and makes the headers and exhaust look awesome).
2. Mahle pistions( check them for proper compression and CC heads, but quality has been excellent)
3. Amber shroud ( check prevous threads on this car, Damion makes great stuff. Mine took almost a day of fiddle faddle to fit - but it was a pre-production prototype. He has since fixed them)
4. MSD( after 10 911's over the years, finally opted for a fully electronic ignition....love it. Makes carb tuning/jetting much easier and NO POINTS!)
5. Boxter brakes( great pedal feel and looks trick, but in the end - not much cheaper then 930 brakes)

Some bummers....or pitfalls to avoid
1. No Dilivar - put them in new and they will still break. Stay with raceware or 993 steel
2. 12 plug dizzyz( lots of used crap out there. Shop carefully and pay up for the best one you can find)
3. PMO carbs suck!( stay with the factory jetting on your original 40 or 46's and use the tall manifolds.)DO NOT buy new PMO's.
4. Spend the $$ and get Pauter rods
5. don't use non-factory sport muflers. No way to get rid of the flat spots.
6. cam timing is everything. I wasted alot of money at 2 different shops before finding a 3rd who knows EXACTLY how to set.
7. Make sure your twin plug heads can clear a regular "lower plug" before installing on motor. Otherwise headbolts will interfere.
8. Balance everything and double check.
9. crack test everything

Don't forget to have fun. These types of projects can really break your spirit with schedule and cost overruns.
