944 shudder fix

Popped on over to Clark's and read about idle fixing. So I set up my throttle and idle so that the throttle closed switch isn't a player anymore. Guess what?

Much better cold idle, fast idle working properly, no shudder coming off the gas, smoother idle.

What's not to like? Try this...

Or you can get the Wilk's PowerProm, which fixes the 'drop-n-shudder' AND makes your car accellerate faster.............

I would do what CJ said, not only to you fix your problem "correctly" but you also get the added performance gain without any problems

Yes, you guys are right.

But!

Very financially challenged right now. I'd love to have the Wilks chip, frankly.

The TPS position adjustment is a great one and you can't beat the low, low price of zero dollars. . .

True free is always good. But the TPS sensor/switch is there for a reason, so why not go directly to the source of the problem and fix the software in the DME

Oh, I'm not saying people should discount the "correct" fix and the excellent product FR Wilk makes, just until you can, nudge the TPS a millimeter or two and live stutter-free until.

What twigged me to this was finishing my head gasket job and being amazed at how well the car ran - until I found the TPS unplugged and plugged it back in. Instant crappy idle and shudder coming off throttle. And I know the aux air valve works 'cause without the TPS the car had a proper fast idle which sank as the car warmed up. So I did some research and found the Clark's Garage fix. I'd been contemplating this but Clark's kinda made my mind up for me.

Thanks I might take you up on that. . . I currently have no issues with my '85 but I may be picking up an '83 soon that DOES have the stutter problem (ssshhh, don't let my wife find out I'm getting another one!)
