87+ - the bolt pattern and size are the same, but the clearances are different.

Yes, it is true

Should have been clearer before turbo is different and the S2 is a 3.0L and thus different as well

Stick to NA 87+

Still morbidly curious how the housing got cracked in the first place.

Ok, you want to know,... I boiled it to clean it and I guess I didnt let it cool off slow enough. The boiling did a great job but that will probably be the last time I do it. Maybe. I just have to let cool the parts slower. Ok, you can now begin your laughing or your popping of the motrin

The guy I took the housing to get welded said he couldnt do it because it the crack was contaminated. He went to try and he said black smoke was coming from the crack. The weld would not take. I am going to get another housing. There is this place somewhat local to me with a couple of trashed 944's They said they might have it but not sure what they are looking for They said come on down and take a look.

ROFL........... ok ok... I'll stop laughing... interesting idea. Not as good as the PVC leak down tester!!!

I kinda see how you would think thats a good idea.

Does your mom know you used her pots to boil off some coolant and oil remnants????

I don't want to ask how you came up with that...........but..... I am curious... did you boil any othe parts?

uhmmm like your head...

CRAP, if your laughing AFJuvat is gonna have a POOPFIT!!! Where did I come up with an idea like this? Don't know just made sence to me. I didn't boil any other parts. Other then the fact that I didnt cool it down slow enough, it worked great. Mom didnt mind seeing that she used the same pot to mix the mortar for her ceramic tiles Damn, dont even want to know what Juvat's gonna say He gonna have me committed.

No, I just sit in silence and shake my head a bit.

In this long and twisted saga, (For those of you joining us late in the Head Wars Saga, our Padewan here originally set out to replace his camshaft oil seal, almost 1 year and god only knows how much cash later......) there have been a few times I have sat in silence and shake my head a bit, other times I laugh ..

This one just kind of blends in with the others.

I can understand your desire to make sure everything is clean/contaminant free before putting it together, but this is the first time I have heard of anyone trying to sterilize their engine parts. People have refered to engine repair as surgery, but this is going a bit far.

In the future, please, for the love of god, when an "idea" strikes you regarding this engine, and it "sounds like a good idea" or "it made sense at the time", PLEASE ASK before you do it.

I'll give you credit for trying to tackle this on your own - many I know wouldn't dare do it. You need to be more careful and you need to pay attention to what some of us who have a little more experience in this are telling you.

Ok, lecture is over, will not get too preachy - you've learned your lesson, I hope.
