VW Bug with Porsche rims?

Somewhat offtopic, but not really :P

I saw this modified VW Bug in Singapore and took some shots of it. It seems to have some type of Porsche rims on it.

But can anyone point out of it has any other mods? Lowering? Different hood? What model year is this? I don't know why, but there is something very Porschesque about it...

Those look like 16" Boxster wheels. I had a set just like those for snow tires before I decided I wouldn't be driving my car in the winter.

I don't have any pics but to add to the vehicles with porsche wheels. I had a friend in New Jersey that owns a blue gti with cup 2 wheels on it.

That's a "German Look" bug

German look bugs are popular with the Euro-style VW crowd.
Here are a list of mods that I can see that have been done to the car:

Different bumpers with built-in turn signals
Dechromed
H4 headlights
Definitely slammed (dropped spindles)
Looks like rabbit side mirrors have been added
front air dam and possibly modified front fenders
little spoiler thingy on the roof
probable engine mods.

Looks like a standard bug, am unsure what year, but is probably an IRS car (newer than 1968)

We've got a bunch of VW nuts around here, this should be interesting.

This looks to be a '73 or later Super Beetle, notice the curved windshield. It's been lowered front and rear and the side chrome trim has been deleted, there may be deleted chrome trim on the running board as well.

The front bumper is different than what we got in the US, the turn signals are in the bumper while we got them on top of the fenders. This may be stock locally, the later Mexican sold beetles had this as too.

Front bumper, mirrors and door handle are black, that may not be stock. There's a front spoiler below it and a little roof spoiler too. Turn signals also look to be clear/and or smoked.

That rear gravel guard is an addition too...nice car!

It has louvers on the operable engine cover, so definitely later than 1971. The 1969 had louvers only above the engine.

Right, Superman?

It's called an "euro look" beetle (as opposed to a Cal-look beetle).

Generally, you'd replace the stock fenders with wider fiberglass ones, install a big bore type4 motor (912e, 914, baywindow bus), and upgrade some of the suspension to porsche specs (brakes and wheels, that's why the new fenders are needed).

Superbeetles are decent canidates (note the curved windsheild on this one, it's a SB) as the SB front end has Macpherson struts.

Do a google search for more info. I did a quick one but couldn't find the eurolook beetle forum (lots of other pages reference euro look beetles).

Here is another shot, from the back and it might help figure out the details on this car. It shows some sort of text emblem on the back with a "S" also..

Its funny to me how the H2O VW crowd seems to like the Porsche wheels that Porsche people do not typically like. Like the 964 wheels:

And 928 wheels:

I think they good on those cars though...

While stationed in Deutchland years ago, I saw several "Mercedes Bugs". They would add the front end of an older MB to the Bug body. Kind of cool....I guess.

I don't remember whether my '69 had louvres on the engine lid or not. What I do remember is that, with four studded snow tires the thing was a TANK in snow and ice. The radiator never did freeze over. The drive from my driveway to my work place was handled as one big 10-minute power slide.

What's IRS?

IIRC, no.
You need to have the VW drums drilled for the porsche pattern or change out the brake and suspension parts to Porsche. I was looking into buiding a super-fast notchback and wanted Fuchs.
