My repairs/conversion has begun!

This shot gives you a great idea of what it looked like the day I brought it home.

Since I hit the deer, I decided to go with the look of the 951.

Here's some pictures of the work I've done so far, I still have a few fitment issues to contend with, along with some straightening that needs to be done due to the hit.

This is one of the wheels that will get put on it when it's all said and done.

Hopefully I'll get further along tomorrow, and have the fenders and airdam properly bolted on.

Thats looking great! I love the little nose on the hood. The before pictures look similar to my 944 but I have black powder coated cookie rims.

It looks great; way to go

it was interesting to see a Starion in background as it was marketed as a more economical alternative to '44

I recall hearing that the headlight covers were different on a turbo, but I noticed you kept yours, have you encountered any fitting problems with the headlights?

Well he's not using a genuine turbo front end, it's an aftermarket kit to make an NA look like a turbo. The vented header panel does appear to be made for a turbo however, which causes me to suspect there will be further fitment issues.

A starion is a rwd dodge from the 80s, resembles an rx-7 and a 944. It was available w/a turbo. Not a bad car, IMO.

The nose was designed for the 951. All the parts are from A.I.R. The bumper is the 951 conversion. In order to use the vented header panel I swapped the complete N/A headlight assembly for a 951 assembly(I had a completely destroyed headlight bucket anyways).

Never thought so much conversation would come up about my Conquest

Mitsubishi Starion was manufactured between 83-89, as Mitsu's 4cyl RWD Turbocharged sport luxury car. It's got a 2.6l with balance shafts, it's said that Porsche licensed the use of these from Mitsu.

The car was marketed under Mitsu, Dodge, Plymouth and finally Chrysler until it was ended in '89. In '90 the car was replaced with an all new body style, and under the DSM merger. When the new car hit the sales floors in Japan it was marketed as the Starion GTO, when that same car hit the shores or America it's name changed to the 3000GT. The ties to the Conquest and Starion were broken, and the old cars just started to disappear and were forgotten about.

I love driving it just due to the fact that it's amazing how many people have never even seen one, much less have heard of one.

One time purchasing rear tires the mechanic (tire dude) looked out the window at the car and put Conquest on the slip.

Oh yeah, I guess I didn't pay much attention. The reason it looks like I'm using the same headlights is due to the fact the 951 donor was also black

My passenger side headlight bucket was trashed from the deer hit.

I will say this much, those suckers are a severe PITA to get lined back up correctly... And that darned spring on the driver's light is going to give me an ulcer if I can't get it to stay on properly...

The hood shifted on it's hinges, and became 'more rounded' for lack of a better term(see 1st pic with the white fenders on it). It would no longer sit flush with the fenders. Probably an easy fix for a body man, but, I had insurance money Besides, the hit busted the nylon piece that the release spring rides on, in order to open the hood I had to use a large pry bar which screwed up the rolled lip pretty badly.

Full damage including shipping was $1495. That still doesn't account for the lighting, roughly another $500-ish.
