NoVA Gang Monthly Gathering Pics

It was a beautiful sunny day, a bit chilly due to the wind. This is the second month of the Gathering of the Faithful and the turnout is growing expotentially. This month a good number of 914's came as well as SC's, Carrera's and Jim's awesome 911E.

Enjoy!

Sam, and others, it was fun seeing y'all there today. A bit nippy though. Can't wait for Spring! Dan's the man all right, showing up with his clipped wing. I'll bet you were dreaming of driving a Tip, now weren't you Dan?

I'll post some pics Lu took later on, after I get in a few hours of quality garage time with the E...aux oil cooler & lines to install.

hmmm...

You missed it -- they took the engine out of the rear of my Audi (see the photo above).
That's what Noah thought, come on Noah, you know us members of the NoVAMD gang are much more crafty than that. We had a couple tricks up our sleeve, that was the diversion when we did the real engine drop. Thanks for causing the distraction, it worked like a charm. Well since Richard didn't show up, there was no gunfire, and because of last month's meetings all of the 993's were scared away. So we were out of luck in finding a 3.6L. SCWDP was out on patrol as always, which means no one will dare come near dropping a 3.0L without consent. We kinda felt sorry for Jim and left his MFI alone since he was the only long nose representing, now that Jamie is in Texas. The Carrera crew has some connections to SCWDP, so dropping a 3.2L was out of the question. Which left us with only one choice.

This was where all the trouble started, the idea was thrown on the table, hmm, a teener. We figured with the amount of HP from their motors,we could have Dan run down the street to get a lawn mower engine to swap it with. So we did manage to get an engine, although it came from a teener, it's still a Porsche motor. I don't think Nathan has noticed yet .

(Dan and Jase coming back from picking up the lawn mower engine.)

(So sorry, but it's gotta go!)

But wait, the fun wasn't over just yet. After getting the engine, we figured let's do some more damage and take apart some brakes today. The Dorkiphus Porsche Wrench Warriors sped onwards to MD passing by DC in a mini fun run.

(Damn Minivans )

Finally arriving at our destination, it’s time to tear apart some brakes.

We all had our hands dirty well into the night!!

I left too soon and missed the lawn mower / teener engine swap.
So who got the teener motor, targa911man? Or was it you Pari? Ha! Anything but those dog slow SC mills. Next you'll be lusting for MFI. Muhahahaha!

Lame Excuses For Missing Out

#1 I really wanted to be there but had a late evening call from someone who wanted a walk through of my house this AM (preparing to rent prior to June move to NC). -Very Lame

#2 To make matters worse my fishing buddy hit me up today (and I caved), creating mental angush between my obsessions. If only I could find a place where I could fish from my car...
-Questionably Lame

Looks like it was a good time, guess I will have to look forward to next month. Keep it going.

Gordo

You know I won't tell!! You will find out when one of us pops up with a 914 . Pleeaase, our "dog slow SC mills" will crush your MFI every time, besides I know that's the reason why you left so early. You knew the MFI couldn't hang with the 3.0L monsters in the run leaving the gathering.

Nice pics guys. When you get together, the cars just go to pieces, don't they? Very nice, Jim's Aubergine 911 is what my T aspires to be when it grows up.

Steve, that run through the back roads must have got your blood circulating, your face was as red as . Good to see you could keep up when we hit the MD roads.

It did get the blood circulating!! I had not yet driven the car like that. It felt good and the car appreciated it. The flushed brakes feel good (couldn't test them like during the run), but a moved seat position really helped out. I feel like an old lady sitting so close!! It least I won't drive like one!

Here's anothe photo. The only thing wrong with this photo is that there was room for 2 more cars!!

What a great GTG, just imagine how much fun it'll be when we get a bunch of cones for the parking lot and it gets warmer!!!

Yeah, I know the 2.0 /4 doesn't have as much HP as a 3.6 /6...so if anyone is willing to give me a 3.6 i'll see how it works in a teener, haha.

Great meeting all of you, I was too cold to be super social though. Till next month!

Nathan
