#800 of 861 72E targa's any interest?

It is w/ heavy heart that I am posting this query.

My 1972 E targa ~58k miles HAS SPUN ROD BEARING - car is not running and does not turn over.

It is a 1972 911E targa in original Gulf Blue

Condition of the car:
NEEDS RESTORATION -
Paint is weak
Front windshield cracked
Original seats are gone - have the same type but in black - NON-recarro
Interior was/is tan and the seats were tan w/ cord in the center
ONLY RUST that I have found is right rear seat - all other common culprits are solid.

Motor is all original - rod bearing spun and stopped the car at under 5mph - not catastrophic. Car was making the rod knock and I was babying it along when it seized.
Cause? Most likely running it too rich with a leaky MFI pump ??

Total I have in the car including intial cost is up to $20k.
I recently went through the entire brake system - everything but rebuilding the calipers.
Also went thru the pedal assembly when replaced the master cyl.

In Summary this is a 1972 E matching #'s gulf blue 911 - a fairly rare car.
Needs motor rebuild and cosmetic restoration PERIOD

I am interested in asking you guys what you think it is worth??
I do know that this is similar to dropping a worm in an ant pile but I won't be insulted...

And just like anyone else here I won't sell it for pennies but I am reasonable and interested in opinions/offers.
Car is registered in Cali and located in WA state

I think if you seriously want to sell something, you need to answer questions about it.

FWIW, it's significant to California buyers that the car is registered here. that's only logical.

Secondly, we do have an affinity for cars that still have the blue CA plates from year of manufacture, and that has a material effect on value.

BUT, it's a tough thing to do when the poster is asking for opinions in a forum where there's a sticky from the site owner that says "NO COMMENTARY OR OPINIONS IN THIS FORUM!"

WHAT THE CHUCK???!!!

I did not see a question!! HELLO!!!!!!!!

Aside from that what part of: "the car is registered in California but is in WA state" was confusing to you?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it not fathomable that I may not have taken that picture w/in the last hour? IT'S AN OLDER PIC.
IT DOES NOT HAVE BLUE PLATES.
Most people photoshop the plate out of pictures - sorry.......

Opinons when asked for I thought were ok....

Kasi - thanks for your offer - we might be able to talk - aside from that - offers from $1k to $1million are taken seriously.

I am never insulted when someone offers me their hard earned money - so again thanks Kasi.

Again *sigh*

4-5K sounds about right. add a 10k engine overhaul, a 6K paint job, 1-2K for a freshened interior, 1-2K in misc repairs and soon you have 25K invested in a 15K car.

Thanks John, well said.

Only thing I would disagree is the value of a fully restored 1972 911E targa

I won't debate that here - again well put Walker

Ideally a shade-tree guy might buy this one - or you can pay me to do the re-build

Alex, if you think the motor swap with my 2.4 would work...then lets do it and we can work on a trade or something. Anything to allow you to keep that car.

From what I'm reading here, I would recommend jumping on Kasi's generous offer. I was thinking that you'd get only half that, based on the car's stated condition. But, it's your car. Best wishes on a successful sale.

Alex, I seem to remember you selling your coupe recently. Selling off all these long hoods? My gosh man, how could you?

What the others said. If someone had offered me $7k for that car it would have been sold.

THE CAR HAS VALUE! I WILL BUY THE BLOWN ENGINE..

IF YOU DECIDE TO REPLACE THE BLOWN ENGINE I WILL BUY THE ENGINE!

EVEN WITH THE WRONG ENGINE THE CAR LOOKS VERY GOOD, IS RUST FREE AND HAS VALUE..

THE ONLY WAY THAT YOU EVEN COME CLOSE TO GETTING YOUR MONEY OUT OF THIS CAR IS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE WITH A RUNNER..

A GOOD 2.4 "T" MOTOR OR A 2.7 WOULD GET THE CAR GOING...

CALL ME I KNOW WHERE THERE IS A RUNNING "T" MOTOR FOR $1,250
