Will 16X6/7 or 16X7/8 Fuchs fit a 75 911S?
Subject 1975 911S
Question: Will 16X6/7 or 7/8 Fuchs fit without any body work? It's just the standard body with 15X? wheels.

6 or 7 front is no issue at all
7 back w/ a 225/50x16 or 225/45 has been done 8 back only w/ 23.3ET 944 8s, same tires as above, more work to get clearance at the lips, but its been done.

I think the ones I have are 6/7s. I just can't remember. They are off of my 80 SC. I'll have to look at them tonight when I get home.
Thanks Bill.

I'm having 16x7 wheels w/ 205/50/16 tires installed right now. I'm told by a number of people it should work fine. I'm having the camber adjusted just to be sure. However, I'm also going as low as possible w/o it getting goofy. I'll post results early next week.

Hi Scott,
I have a 1975 911S and have agonized/experimented with the best way to get some wider tire without bastrdizing the car i.e. flares... I run the stock 15x6 fuch in front with 205/60-15 and 15x7(911R) wheels in back with 215/60-15 with no problems whatsoever. For track I run 16x7 (951) from 1986 944 turbo on all four corners with 205/55-16 front and 225/50-16 rear. Note: I did have to "roll" the fenders in back because of rubbing on extreme corners and undulations in the road. Hope this helps. Nick

Scott,
16x7's is about as wide as you can go on a narrow body car. 16x8s will not fit, unless they are 951 23.3mm offset Fuchs. Which run $600 to $800 a pair. As far as tire size? 225/50/16 is too big - It will rub!!! 205/50/16 is a nice fit for 16x7's. You should run the same size wheels on all "Four" - I would not stagger the wheel size. Congratulations on your new addition! Jason |

On a '77 Targa:
For track use, I had 15 x 7s all the way around with 225-50s, rear lips rolled Street set up was 7 x 16s all the way around with 205/55/16s, rear of car was set at 24 3/4, front at 25 1/4 with 16" wheel mounted. When I put the track tires on the car was lowered by 1/2". 225/50-16s will not fit in the rear unless the rear flares are "worked" hard. 225/45-16s will work but only on 23mm offset '86 951 wheels (fuchs or phone dials). In fact you could run this set up on all corners, except no one makes a 225/45-16 R compound tire.

Is it ok to run 205/50/16 tires on 951 16x8 wheels all around on a '71 with stock flares?
I think the fitment would be similar to this car with 8's and 205/50/16's all around: ![]() According to the tire specs the 8" wheel is one size too wide for a 205 tire. Thanks for the help, -Kaefer |

I think "8" wheels are too wide for 205/50/16 tires.
Here's a link for my tires. It specs wheel width between "6" and "7.5". 205/50/16 |

Is it just me, best looking 911 is 74 to 77? Those are 205 tires and they look like they fit 8" wheels pretty well. |

Congratulations on the fit. Your car looks GREAT. How about posting some more pics of the new tires and wheels from different angles for the rest of us narrow body guys.

I am not worried with the 205/50's on the 8" rims. I was a little concerned when I had them put on, and I figured if they didn't fit properly someone would have said something. I think the reason they don't look goofy is because the Toyo T1r tires have the rim protector. I have also done some parking lot tests and they are awesome. I was surprised. To get them under the rear fenders I had a friend machine about 1/8 of an inch off of the inside to change the offset and I had to roll the lips, and I am running 2.5 degrees of negative camber in the rear. No problems so far just way better handling.

Thanks a lot sebring. It is truely amazing how good the mid year cars look with bigger wheels. It is unfortunate that know one makes wheels for these cars. I would think there would be a market. My father bought my car in 91 and it had 15x6's and 15x7's. I wanted him to buy wheels then, but he said he didn't think anything would fit. He was pretty much right. So, fourteen years later after I got these wheels (ebay specials, I bought 3 years ago) to fit I was estatic. All it took was a complete suspension rebuild and I had pretty much given in to the fact I was going to have to get SC flares put on. I'm so happy I don't have to have that done now. Now I think the narrow body is the only way to go.

Thanks Sebring, your car looks so different with the 16's on it. The 7's give wheel wells a fuller look, looks tough.
I may not flare my 77 after all. Ed
