WSIR December 14th
My car will have its battle scars from Sears Point for one more track day: December 14th at Willow Springs with ACRA.
![]() It'll come as no surprise to many readers of this forum that Willow is my favorite track. It's very fast, and the key to good lap times there isn't horsepower, so much as it is the ability to avoid slowing down -- ever. ACRA prioritizes track time over anything else, which means a minimum of two and a half hours on the track, usually more. For me, this usually involves two full tanks of gas, mostly spent at triple-digit speeds. I love it. Anyone else planning on going? I'll be driving, instructing, and taking folks for rides, when I can. You can learn more and sign up with the link in my signature.

Beth was just asking me, "so when is your next track date?".
Unfortunately, I probably won't have a car yet! What's ACRA like in comparison to NCRC? $150 for the day is a deal.

Don, OTR is pretty bare bones, compared to NCRC. No time trialing, no racing, just track time. It's a group where most of the guys know each other -- kind of like a Wednesday all-day barbecue with fast cars and a fast track.
Chad, sorry to hear about the work deal. But I guess the silver lining is more time for racing while the severance money pays the bills.

You know who has lots of cars? Enterprise. (or Budget, Hertz, etc.) I hear they've got Mustangs. You know those license plate frames that say "my other car is a an Enterprise rent-a-car"? How does "my track car is an Enterprise........" Just a thought!

I ordered some new (wider) wheels last week, should have them next week, and assuming they fit
I will be out there and have some slicks mounted. Maybe I can actually make it through a corner or two this time. The old radials that have more or less "kept the car off the stands" while I built it just aren't cutting it at all.If something falls apart with getting the wheels (like they decide to not finish them or ship on time) I will probably stay home and wish I had made it. The car is just way too loose on those crappy old Euro TAs So I am gonna play it by ear and wait to sign up until I am sure I have traction.Sounds like lay-offs are going around... there was a big scare here at my work recently, they were announcing they were going to lay-off but they haven't done anything yet. However, I think the first of the year is going to get exciting for a few of us. |

I'm going to try and make this one. Should I sign up in beginner? I have only ran Big Willow once before. I'm looking for as much instruction as possible.
Also I have a couple of friends interested. Will stock belts and an autopower roll bar work for convertibles?

zosyn, sign up for yellow, and we can move you if it makes sense. Willow requires rollover protection for convertibles, but an Autopower bar should be fine for that.

That would be sweet.
Long range weather says 72 degrees and sunny. If that isn't ideal testing weather, I don't know what is.

Oh, so you're actually going to take your daily driver to the track? Why don't you bring a racecar? (Anti-sandbag ball busting)

I am almost positive I will be there. If anyone needs a lap timer, I'll bring a couple out for you to try. If you like it, you can buy it. Plus, I will be wearing the R3 device if any of you are curious about a new H&N restraint for 2006.

As of right now, yes. I need more practice on that track since we race there so much. Plus it will be fun to meet everyone for the first time.
You can find some extra money somewhere. I sold some more gears that why I am going
