Bullet Holes in Cop Car

Check this out. Don't worry, there is an in-car video that goes with these that shows the guy is probably o.k.; I just don't know how to post it. He was pulling up behind a pickup truck that looked like it was stalled on a freeway off ramp, and some one in the truck starts blazing away and drives off. The cop driving this car continues to drive and pulls over. Lots of patrol cars fly on past without stopping to help, so I assume he was o.k.

Don't see any blood spatter so either it hit his vest or he wasn't in the car. Must have been a full auto with a small caliber.

Boy, that's one reason why I would not want to be a cop...

Hope they catch the perp!

And people on the forum wonder why cops don't show more restraint...

Cops should have rocket launchers.

Are cops more likely to be shot at? Seriously.

At least around here, cops seem quick to drop people before any of them have a chance to reach for their meds.

. . .It seems that the guy behind the counter at the Gas & Sip has more chance of finding a gun pointed in his face than does a cop.

Does anyone have then #'s ?

The in-car video show him approaching a pick-up with a canopy that has the back window open. He gets withing about fifty yards and some one in the truck opens up. It's a full-auto rifle of some kind; the burst lasts just a couple of seconds at the most. The cadence is very close to the AK47's I've had a chance to play with. It's too slow to be an M16, which has a faster cyclic rate. There are about 30 holes in the car; about one clip's worth on an AK47. Several patrol cars pass this one after the shooting, and you can hear some one (I assume the cop in this one) say something like "go get the SOB's" on the radio.

Absolutely. Cops are extremely vulnerable.

Last night on the news a family was distraught that their (armed and mentally ill, threatening the police) son was shot rather than Tazered. Hell, the cops should have tossed a grenade.

i think the point is that if some guy is willing to shoot a cop, then the badguy is at an entirely different level of "evil". kinda like the top face of the criminal totem pole. i hate seeing stuff like that, with my little bro being a cop. you would see me go postal.

someone mention tazers. my brother told me that with all the lawsuits, the TAZER company is developing a TAZER CAM. when you pull it out, and activated it, it will film the action. that way the cop can prove in court the badguy, was warned and the tazer was the last resort. i for one cannot wait until tazer reality TV.!

What a silly argument.

This was from an event that happened last year. Somewhere around San Antonio. I believe it was outside of a courthouse, the perp had a semi auto AK clone and opened up on the car. The officer had taken cover behind the vehicle, and was not harmed, IIRC.

From firsthand shooting a car door at 100 yards with all manner of weapons, I can say this: A car is NOT cover from MOST cartridges. Rifle cartridges will go through cars like a hot knife through butter.

This must be a different incident, Matt. It was on a freeway off-ramp, and the cop was driving while filming with his in-car camera. The video shows it all better than I can describe. Definitely full-auto; no one has that nimble of a trigger finger. All 30 odd rounds come his way in just a couple seconds. Pretty scary stuff...

When living in Dallas, I heard more police are killed there each year than any other state. It is also the teen suicide capital.
