...more from europeanhardware

I thought we might see a second of these NOS OEM early orange bar hood badges from this guy. Wonder how many he will have total. As many as there are suckers to buy them I suppose. :-(

not me, I was just fallowing the first thread that exposed him.

Buy the emblem for $59.95 from Performance Products, shrink wrap it to homemade Porsche card stock and call it 30 years old NOS OEM.

It's fool proof.

This is available from Automotion:
http://www.***************/productpage.aspx?pid=109414&name=Genuine+Porsche%C2%AE+Early+Style+Hood+Crest

My guess is that if you buy it from Automotion it comes mounted on the Porsche card.

So far I've filed two complaints with eBay, sent a package of information to the Attorney General of the State of Virginia, the same package to the U. S. Postmaster General, and yesterday I notified PCNA's legal department. Others are taking similar action.

After the first eBay complaint he did make a few changes to his description, which tells me they called him on it. But he's obviously still trying to present these as "original/OEM/genuine" and states that they're NOT cheap reproductions.

I also sent a link to our original thread to everyone who has bought a badge from him in the past and suggested they return it for a refund.

He is now making his auctions "private" so no one can contact the bidders. But who knows - something weird could happen with the current auction

I generaly try to stay out of crap like this, but having had my own intellectual property ripped off several times, I have an interest in seeing copyright laws respected.

Everybody, make sure you watch out for this guy as well. "cmartinperez" sells a lot of stuff on Ebay. The last "NOS" hood crest he sold, which was really a Stoddard or Pelican repro, sold to some unsuspecting chump for over $500!!!

Here's his latest hood crest scam:

PCNA legal dept is aware of this guy, as of last March and as of earlier this week. I hope they shut him down. I agree about flooding eBay with complaints. That stopped him last spring, but he's back at it with the same crap.

I am trying to do my part. I reported item # 260053519094 just a few minutes ago. I don't like this guy. Is he still on this site?

Why doesn't someone write an Ebay guide on the subject? Links to these will pop up on the left of the page when someone searches on the keywords...

http://cgi3.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?CreateProductGuide&ssPageName=RevGui:UsrSum:1

You can link directly to any Ebay page or listing.

Unfortunately, you cannot link directly to any off-Ebay web page.

But you could mention Pelican Parts and Rennlist, and give the search terms, thread ID's so that they could check...

Here's what I knocked up quickly, can someone improve on this:

[draft]

Guide Title: Fake early NOS Porsche emblems

The late Porsche emblems have horizontal translucent red bars. Earlier (pre-74) emblems used solid orange bars. These are impossible to source - they simply don't exist in any quantity.

However, numerous good quality reproductions are available for approx $50-60 from a number of sources (Pelican, Performance Products, Automotion, Stoddards). There is no attempt to pass these off as factory parts, and they pretty up the vehicle nicely if the original badge is damaged or missing.

Some unscrupulous individuals buy these reproduction parts, mount them on a piece of forged card stock, shrink-wrap them and pass them off as new, old stock, factory parts.

A seller called "europeanhardware" has sold many of these - most for more than $150, some for as many as $500.

This seller called himself "boydam" on Pelican Parts web forum. He also posted to Rennlist.

A search on either will provide interesting information as to the massive cache of "New Old Stock" parts that this lucky individual has unearthed, together with photographs of original items so that you can identify your reproduction part for what it is, and hopefully recover your money from this shyster.

The original thread ID was 269837, and "NOS Porsche Badge" will turn it up.

[/draft]

Comments/improvements welcome.

Thanks Tom!

I proof-read it again quickly and submitted it. We'll see if Ebay actually puts it up.

After all, they must have a few complaints now (I complained as well) - and the auction is still running.

They obviously have no interest in removing the guy while he's still paying them item fees, regardless of any wrong-doing. Nice to know, eh?

right... $530 to be exact. clearly indicated MADE IN GERMANY on the back. earlier this year he put up an "original" Speedster spare tire strap (they're different than coupes & cabriolets) when pressed regarding the "originality" he stated that it was "original" because he had had it "...for years". it was actually from a '70s era VW bus. somebody paid ~ $120 for it.
P.T. Barnum was right.
hey... let's be careful out there
