Boxster Project 35: Replacing your Automatic Transmission Fluid

Anyone got any questions on Project 35 - Replacing your Automatic Transmission Fluid for your 986 Boxster, 987 Boxster, Cayman, Carrera 996, or Carrera 997?

Here's a back link to the original article: Pelican Technical Article: 35-TRANS-Auto_Fluid_Change

Wayne - this is my first time posting, so I'm not sure I'm in the right place.
I would like to try this project but in regard to shifting through the gears, I shudder at the thought of running the car on jack stands. I have quality stands (6 ton rated) but being a noob, I have some trepidation. How worried should I be?
Thanks,
joe

Final Drive Fluid

Is the fluid in the final drive on the passenger side of the 1997 Porsche Boxster Automatic Tiptronic transmission different then the fluid used when changing the transmission fluid?

Thanks for the reply. The undercarriage on the right side of the transmission was wet. The transmission was making a whinning noise and i thought the fluid leaked out.

When i drained it, it was full so i am inclined to believe the drive gear on the drivets side of the tranny is leaking big time. I am going to pull the plug and check it tomorrow. That should tell the story.

The Bently manual references checking it and does mention gear oil but i wanted to make sure. Thanks again for the reply.

Steve
