So CA Big Bear Drive II
Dr. Paul ask me about another Big Bear run before the year and the great weather leave us, so I thought I’d try to get a little feedback on dates.
I would like to do this November 9th, 10th, 23rd,or 24th. Let me know who out there is interested and what dates work best and we’ll try to please the masses. Thanks Dr. Paul for bringing this up. I hadn’t even thought of doing this again this year. Great idea.

So far I have no conflicts on those dates. Sounds like fun!

Any preference to the route?
Last time we hit traffic both ways but the 38 was much faster than the 330. It was peak season not counting skiers (which still wont be a factor) so this time should be better. We could keep the same route, go up and down the 38, or find a different destination altogether. We have over a month, so plenty planning time. Let me know what you think.

I would be up for it, but early is my vote so I'm back to do family stuff at a reasonable hour.
Actually if it is Saturdays, my son has soccer (and I ref). 9th is possible if I'm back by 2, 16th by 3, 23rd no go. Last edited by nostatic; 10-04-2002 at 11:29 AM.. |

Great response so far. I hope we can work it out so everyone can make it. Edit: Sorry Todd, forgot about the 23rd. 24th is still open.

Big bear run
Sounds fun, keep us posted when this will happen. I havn't been more than 25 miles from home yet. Maybe Moolanarr and I can hook up on the way there since I'm about 6 miles from him.

I think all the "non-SC" guys should boycott this until we find out what the story is on the "Dr." title. It could be a conspiracy of some sort. Look here: Is there a Doctor in the house? After all, these so-called "Drs." could be committing Porsche malpractice, and us non-SC folks wouldn't want to get swept up in that now, would we?
Let the flames begin!

Well Scott, I do hope you decide to make it. I will not hold the fact of your choice to own a lesser model against you. It is a 911, and proper respect will be granted regardless.
Please don’t hate us because we own SC’s. I promise not to be arrogant about it. You were just misguided and that may very well be at no fault of your own. Hey, I even invited the other Porsche types so you can’t accuse me of being “stuck-up”. As for the Dr. status, well, I’m not at liberty to go in to that. Maybe a day with the SCWDP will enlighten you, past sins can always be forgiven and it’s never too late to correct them. Oh yeah, one last thing, MUUUHHAAAAAHHHAAAAA!!!!

Ryan:
Thank you for your (well-placed) humility. Those of us who had the good sense to purchase Carreras do not hate SC owners. Quite the contrary -- we are grateful to the cars of you and your colleagues for being the "test beds" for the advancements found in our cars. Cheers!

Touché
Well, let's just say, it is true the Carrera would have never been the car it is w/o the SC. Maybe if you guys could find a way to loose the couple hundred extra pounds that 3.2 might work pretty well for you. But this Big Bear Run is about all of us coming together, putting our differences aside and proving the SC was the pinnacle of the 911 production.

On the subject of the so-called SC World Domination Plan -- uh, I don't think so. But, if you have the need to feel superior, by all means, don't let a better car stand in your way.

Ryan, any ideas for lunch. Although the Tale of the Whale was fitting, perhaps a different cuisine. If we are going earlier how about a breakfast/brunch place?

I was thinking we would start a little earlier so that guys can get home at a decent time for the families. Breakfast would be perfect I think.
Tail of the Whale didn't work out as well as I'd hoped last time. Part my fault on getting there early. There are plenty of good breakfast places to choose from. When I get the car back together I'll have to take it for a test drive up there and check them out. Scott, don’t pop any bubbles on me here. I have to justify all the money I’m spending this week somehow. Didn’t mean to bring the wrath of the SCWDP upon you. I’m just trying to be a good loyalist.

You've done the SC clan proud, Ryan. No worries here. It's all in good fun!
Breakfast sounds great!

OK, unless there are any objections, the tentative date will be the 17th. 8AM meet time at the Redlands Starbucks could put us back down the mountain by noon.
The 24th seemed a little late in the month and I might need to work the 16th. I know the preference was Saturday but Sundays seem to work better for everyone’s schedule. For alternates we could use the 24th or the 16th if I don’t have to work. What do guys think?
