low boost

newbie here.
2003 a4 1.8t. keep getting a 16683 boost not reached code. Replaced the diverter valve with no change. Will be fine for a while then trip a code again. Hoses seem ok. Is there a way to smoke test the boost side? I assUme any vacuum line on the manifold would work.

Juggling multiple vehicles with issues right now, hoping this will be any easy one

Check your boost pressure Valve. it sits next to the front of the turbo and goes into the intake boost

Finally got around to doing anything. I replaced the boost sensor and the hoses attached to it. one had a small tear. It's still not making more than 10psi and is slow to build. It used to hit 15 with no problem.

Any other ideas?

Got a smoke machine. Hooked it up to the intake manifold, the air filter snorkel and one of the tubes that goes from the air filter snorkel around the back of the motor. Got no smoke leak anywhere.

any other thoughts? tia
