Replacing Your Ignition Switch and Lock Cylinder

Hi, I have a VW Golf 5 2006 SDI, 2.0L. I have to change the ignition switch and lock cylinder because they are damage. My question is can i change the ignition switch and lock cylinder for a newer model (for instance from VW golf 6 or 7)?
And can i use the existing ignition starter switch on a newer model (for instance from VW golf 6 or 7)?
I look foreword for your reply.

I don't have your exact model but in my experience the connectors and wiring harness do change from major model design to major model design. I would pull a wiring diagram from each and compare.
