1983 VW Rabbit Convertible
With headlights on, the tachometer and clock do not work. Any ideas or suggestions.

I recommend Check all of your grounds that are under the dash above the fuse block. Make sure they are clean. Also Check any grounds in the engine bay. From my own experience, with my 87 Cabriolet and my 82 924, was always ground issues that would be the problem creators .

Thank you for replying to our post. As you suggested I replaced battery, ground cable to chassis, and ran a new cable from the engine block to chassis. Took the gauge cluster out and replaced the voltage stabalizer. I still have the problem with tach not working when headlights are on.
I checked the voltage with the headlights on and it is 13.8. |
