audi a4 2.8t 2001 automatic gearbox fault

hie guys im having problems with my a4 it once moved properly and then it started jerking like its runing out of fuel,i then turned it off bought fuel but this time it became worse it could only ingage into 1st gear bt moves slowly nt passing 10km/h after a few kms it gave up with no drive even if i tried selecting the other gears and i ended up towing to the workshop stripped it clutches are ok no broken gears.can u guys assist me trouble shooting.thnk u
