Quick Jack use with VW Beetle/super?

Was asking around on another forum and got no where... just curious if anyone has used a Quick Jack with a VW beetle or super?

I've used it with great success on my side by side, and will use it on my 911 and Golf R this fall for some service, but because the jack points are sort of odd on a beetle just curious if anyone had luck with one.

Not looking to argue which is the best jack, if this is a good one, etc.. just info if you've used QJ with a beetle.

Thanks!

What generation Beetle? What QJ unit do you have? 3500, 5000 or 7000?

So, with the first gen Beetle I'd be more concerned with the wheel spread vs. the jacking points. You will want to measure from the back of the front tire to the front of the rear tire on one side. The frame length on the 5000 is 72.5". If your wheel spread is shorter than that, then the QJ unit will not fit under your Beetle. If the units are too long you could swap the direction of how you're supposed to raise the vehicle- use one unit to lift the entire front and the other to lift the rear, if that makes sense. Now, if you have determined they will fit under the vehicle to lift it properly, then you will want to measure your lifting points. I don't think you'll be needing the max pad spread. The minimum pad spread is 31.5" so you will want to make sure that your lifting points are not shorter than 31.5" apart. Let me know if you have questions.

Here are the specs of the 5000SLX below.

I also found this thread here: https://www.thesamba.com/vw//forum/viewtopic.php?p=8033337. Looks like he had no issues using the 5000SLX on his.

Yes, I am in contact with the poster of that waiting for his reply... I was asking for people that have used the Quickjack with a beetle.

They fit just fine underneath, either the long way or the other way. But when going front to back with each the lift points on the beetle are not parallel, so I wanted input from someone who has done it.

For example, maybe they use the front lift points and the rear axle to keep things parallel.

Hm, I see what you're saying. BendPak wasn't much help as they haven't tested the unit on a first gen Beetle. I'm not sure anyone in here will chime in with help for you. Might I suggest you ask folks in our Off-Topic Discussion forum? It has a lot more activity and someone in there might have a Beetle with some input for you. Off Topic Discussions - Pelican Parts Technical BBS. Good luck and be sure to report back here with what you find out. Might help someone else in the future.

I contacted BendPak too and they're looking into it. Hopefully they'll get a beetle in there and figure it out, or make some sort of adapter for it (I'd buy it! I have 2 beetles and looking for more!)

They seem to really be stepping up the advertising and support for the QuickJack (I see the on Velocity now!). If it worked on a beetle, it would be great. I'm sure there's some way to make it work. When I hear from the other poster on Samba I'll make sure to answer my own question here as well.
