The world is kind of small....
Back a few years ago, during the height of the recession, I attended a college alumni function at Google.
I attended Dartmouth College. I studied engineering and I was also an athlete for all four years.
I turned around in the snack line, and there I encountered a former teammate, a couple of years younger than I. I had not seen him since he graduated in '84. We got caught up very quickly.
Before he told me exactly what he did, he indicated that his business was recession-proof. Then I learned that he was the CEO of a company that provided super high end home audio/automation services, and the Chairman of the Board of CEDIA.
A few minutes more of conversation revealed that quite a few of his clients and those of the firm that employs my wife had a lot of overlap.
