Good afternoon - I feel like an idiot having to ask this questions but here goes.

74 2.7 engine in a 72 body - race motor - complete rebuild after engine failure (previous owner built). I am re-doing all the oil lines and cooler to the front but the way the previous owned had plumbed just doesn't seem right.

Here is my interpretation and need to see if this is right.

The line from the pump in the engine goes back to a system 1 filter. Coming out of the filter to a thermostat. If over 180, it flows straight to a front oil cooler then back through the thermostat and loops to the oil tank. Is that right? Does the oil coming back from the engine flow through the filter first or should that be at the end of the loop and then back to the engine?
