The metal frame anchoring the glass to the top of the tub in our tub/shower is 1/2" thick. I think the glass itself is 3/8" thick. If you had an 1.25" to 1.5" from the faucet hardware to the edge of the tub, you should be good. If less, then I'd defer to experts like Jeff.
