A Frazer-Nash wasn't too stock to begin with. They either ran a Meadows or Anzani engine of 1.5 liters and were usually massaged a bit. The cars were giant killers in their day, with some really funky engineering. Chain drive with no differential for instance.
The drivers who raced them were known as the chain gang, as was the drive system.
