I did exactly that, bought a nice 308, but held on to my 993 to see which one I wanted to keep long term. A few months later I sold the 993. At the time I was beguiled by the beauty of the recently acquired 308, which made the 993 seem boring. Now, 7 years later, I just sold the 308, and took a very good 911SC as partial trade.
I wouldn't trade the Ferrari experience I had, but I truly missed the Porsches. They are in my blood.
If you're the same way, buy a Ferrari, but hang on to the Porsche. You may want it back someday.
