TGIF everyone, except Jim. Happy Saturday Jim.
I went flying again yesterday afternoon. I was chatting with the owner of the FBO (fix base operator) at the airport where we get fuel and keep the airplane. He has been in business 42 years. He is a flight instructor and has taught a lot of pilots to fly. There were a lot of birds flying around. Some buzzards off the end of the runway catching thermals and other small birds. He said he hit a sparrow and it made quite a noise. No sure how he could identify a bird splat but I did not ask.
He said one of of his fresh pilots hit deer when he was landing. It caused some flap damage and likely soiled underwear. The deer was killed, and the airplane had some parts replaced. We cheated death again successfully and our flight was event free, as planned.
