Man did this thread get out of hand! Abq is not Greenwich CT or Maricopa county AZ but it is also not Syria as discribed.
Not a lot to "do" here in general. Come for the weather, vistas and sunsets. Get out doors when ever possible. If you have to choose go North... Taos, Santa Fe, north in general is a better bet (farther from the border, same with AZ).
Yes it can be place where you should pay attention to your surroundings. How is that different from any other community..
