Can we get to closure on the 964 vs 911 gaskets please?

Is there an advantage to the 964 ones?
Do a Google Advanced search on PP 911 Technical forum (not the horrible PP search function) and you will find many threads on the 964 vs 911 seal update. Some have had success, some less so, but it has been done sucessfully. The main problem is the metal lip that holds the seal in place is longer/deeper on the '89s and 964. The shorter lip on the '88 and earlier can present problems with keeping the windshield in place. YIKES! Of course the advantage is getting rid of that damned aluminum
trim. Another tip, you can use the 993 rear quarter window rubber seal to get rid of the aluminum trim piece on earlier cars and it looks beautiful. Good luck!
