I just hate to see gun and ammunition sales go completely on line, or big box, and lose the last little bit of status the local shops cling to as a part of their communities. Besides, with something as personal as a firearm, it's always nice to go and look at a variety of potential candidates, handle them, and discuss them with the proprietor. It's a fun way to spend a few hours, and maybe make a new friend. Or go see an old one.
This.

And I don't mind supporting the local business, and I understand that they have to make a living.

Unfortunately for them, I don't believe they have a right to make a living off a single transaction from me. So I won't be paying $250 for a used and abused 10/22. Or $200 for a used Marlin/Glenfield mdl 60. Or $500 for a Taurus 38.

Of course, there is that one shop near me that removes extra magazines from a factory package to sell separately and they have the highest prices around (full MSRP, sometimes plus a little).... unfortunately it doesn't look like they will ever go out of business. They've bought into/taken over management 3 other gun shops in the area.....
