Great comparison between our old seal and the Porsche seal Universeman, we hadn't seen that thread. Here's your sketch from the other thread for anyone who hasn't seen it:
Here's a snapshot of our new seal during redesign,
prior to the final change of extending the lip (see red arrow) by 3mm.
As you can see, the redesigned seal has:
- The correct four ridges on the outer circumference.
- The correct bottom lip that closes.
- Trim slot of the correct shape.
- It's hard to tell by the photo if the lips around the glass have the round OE profile, but visualizing the seal with the glass installed, it does appear to be bull-nosed.
- The overall length has been increased slightly, so the seal won't be stretched quite as much.
- The rubber has been softened slightly.
Will ask the engineers about the metal insert. Hopefully 3Ddesigns911 has installed his new seal, and will chime in shortly.
