Just had the mutt spayed, we were told the same thing. So we're going to leave it on the full 14 days. She'll get over it. Had it done Tuesday, took the cone off for a while yesterday, but once she tried licking the suture, the cone went back on. Also supposed to keep her calm for the first week, she keeps bringing the throw toy, but I have to tell her no until she's healed a little more.
