Then I wouldn't worry too much about it, mine does the same thing. Long as it doesn't go up and hit redline. If it gets up to the 3/4 and then comes back down to the 1/2, then you're probably safe.

But take a look from the front. When you look between the slots up front, you see the AC condenser...the fins on all mine are pushed over and mashed (the cost of hitting bugs at 100). Anyone know how hard it is to replace the A/C Condenser??

Goku - it's also a possibility that your radiator needs to be replaced. They do get corroded and after time, just don't function like they used to.
