That cookbook is a good one to have, if you're on the left side of the learning curve, in terms of learning the finer points of cooking. Not only does it give you recipes, but it teaches you a lot about what works and what doesn't, the "why" behind the art of cooking. It also covers pretty much everything the average cook will ever try, in terms of the main cuisines of the world. Yeah, you can go much deeper into recipes from a particular country, but that's not likely something you'll do, if you find this cookbook too detailed.
If you only own one cookbook, that one should be it.
