The Good Stuff 2018- Symposium on Best 911 Engine Components
It's been a while since I asked this question so I thought I would throw it to the group.
What are the latest, best approaches to 911 engine components?
I'll take a stab at it:
Cylinder Heads-- Xtreme D-port heads, CNC machined
Crank-- Custom cranks from Pauter, Marine Crankshaft utilizing NASCAR bearings
Case- new manufacture 964 cases not yet GA-- so same old heavy machine work-- align bore, oil bypass, squirters, spigots, oil pump clearance, media tumble.
Oil Pump-- GT3
Cylinders-- LN
Pistons-- ?? Which are regarded as state of the art today?
Rods-- Carillo, Pankl, Pauter
Induction-- ITBs- PMO EFI
Engine Management-- MoTec, AEM
Ignition-- Bosch COP driven by engine management system
Crank triggers-- ??
Engine Tin- Fiberglass RSR
Exhaust- ??
Trying to put together a list of the "DREAM" components-- if you were building an aircooled 911 motor, and cost were not a consideration, what would that look like.
Your input welcome
