Never worked as a roofer, but did mow yards during the hot summers when I was younger. Had a 64 Ford van I used as my mobile equipment shed and workshop. It was one of those with the motor under a big hump between the front seats. No factory A/C/ The A/C was a swamp cooler on the roof. Rigged it up so the swamp cooler circulated water from an ice chest I kept cold drinks in using a windshield washer pump. It blew really cold but only moved enough air to keep the van from getting hotter than it was outside. before I added the ice chest feature it just made it humider.
Couldn't handle it today. Too much sitting in a 73° office all day. Matter of fact, trimmed a bunch of tree limbs in the front yard yesterday before it got hot. Was planning to put them out to the curb for big trash day. Went out to get my mail yesterday evening and someone had already moved all the limbs to the curb for me. Now I gotta find em and thank em.
