Sometimes ‘affordable housing’ is a euphemism for section 8 crack houses.

It takes a strong council/mayor to actively pursue ridding an area of those. In our little town a white knight of sorts has come on the scene and is buying the old slum houses and renovating them one by one thus raising rents to the point we don’t have run down once grand homes with multiple tenants, pit bulls chained in the front yard and cars parked all over the untended lawn.

Not saying this is you but perhaps neighbors are putting pressure on the council?
