I had a 1968 Camaro SS and the summer of 1969 I traded it in for a 1969 Z28 with the fiberglass hood option, dual four barrels and 3 MPG which even back then it was a wallet killer! I found out at the first drag race at the strip north of Saratoga Springs NY I entered the tech folks entered it as a 1968? I said nooooooo it is a 1969 but the had a book with the VIN's and options, build date, ETC and it had been completed in December 1968! It had something to do with NHRA and NASCAR rules where the build date of a car could determine the actual date? It allowed the owners to install later options in a car for race purposes or some such thing! I traded it in 1971 for a Torinp Talladega as the wife wanted more room? Go figure but later we traded for a Cosworth Vega of all things......a little rocket that dripped more oil than my 1955 Triumph MC.
