I've had a few bikes in my days...had 15 at one time in CA. Some were grey market bikes.
If the universe compelled me to have and keep only one bike it would be the '99 BMW R1100S Sport Tourer that presently sits in one of my garages here at the house.
It does everything damn well. Power (acres of torque - I added Staintune), balanced handling (I added the Ohllins), excellent braking (I added SS lines), eats asphalt at over 100 mph all day long and then idles like a kitten.

Edit: BTW, these bikes can be had for nominal $$$. A pity...a wonderful rig.
