As a teen, I had a summer job with American Electric, pulling cable in overhead trays during the building of Waiau power plant (Oahu). One day, my job was to remove the temporary steel tie-wire tie downs, replacing each with heavy duty tie-wraps. Someone must have been overly aggressive twisting on one of their temporaries (cut through the sheathing), as when I went to remove it, there was an explosion in my face with an 18" flame, blowing me off the ladder. Close call.
My last day of work that year, I was on an Ewa Beach military site, watching my partner as he tore down old power poles. The very next day (with another partner), he was blown off his extension ladder after being totally zapped. They had to revive him. Someone had obviously forgotten to cut the bloody power.
