Yes, that's for sure the bulk of the problem. When the car first came back to life the cold start valve was stuck open, and caused a lot of problems. It's currently bypassed, and I'm forcing the injection to run briefly before startup during this diagnostic period. I didn't want to spend $300 on a cold start valve only to ruin it with dirt from the tank. If only I had thought that far in advance with the fuel pump
