another big change has been how cheap and easy it is to mod modern cars. Remember not that long ago a 930 was on a pretty short list of cars that had a straight forward path to huge power.
Now if you are so inclined, you can buy a used mustang or whatever, bolt on a supercharger and make 800 hp all in for less than the price of a very nice 930 engine/efi build. I don't think its only the high brow concours crowd that is driving people away from highly modding these cars. I think alot of people are just enjoying these cars as classics and getting thier HP fixes in other places.
