Rebuild the Type 4
I raced a Type 4 for several years and it was reliable enough with the exception of at the exhaust valve on 3 if memory serves. You won't be racing.
Easy enough to get 175 hp, especially if you go to a 2.3 or 2.4 kit.
I would modify a Type 4.
It will not bastardize the car.
