A/C melt down

89 325i...

Just driving along and...
A/C is on and I hear the blower squeal a bit. Then the fan stops completely. No speeds will work. The condenser was still producing cold air as I could feel it with the air passing through the vents as the car was moving. Finally I had a chance to check it out. I look at number 20 fuse. 30 amp which runs the A/C and everything including the fuse is melted. I'm hoping...I guess... Some wires somewhere have touched and are crossed. Anyone have any idea off the top of your head about where to start? This A/C unit has been running fine for three years. I'll send a pic later of the fuse box if it helps but just imagine number 20 fuse and slot totally melted...

I got all excited again... Took the blower motor out. Removed the brushes. Sprayed some silicon in there and it freed up the fans. All seems good now. I'm just surprised at how the fuse melted! Seems like some minor mantainence that which needs to happen on these cars at this age I guess...
