Fuel or Power issue? 1986 325 Base

I thought that my fuel pump was making more noise than necessary, the one under the rocker panel, and decided to replace it as a long trip was planned. I decided to replace the sending pump in the tank first and then replace the pump under the rocker as it was still making noise. This was 5 weeks ago and the car has been running fine. I still can hear the pump making noise and it seems very loud to me and I did not notice this when the car was purchased earlier this year. I used an inexpensive sending unit but puchased the better Bosch pump for under the rocker.

I was just driving the car home an on the highway and it lost some power. I was able to drive over 10 miles and made it home but it would not allow me to accelerate. I pulled over on the highway and checked the engine compartment and around the vehicle. I do not see any leaks and all belts are secure and turning. I placed the car in park while I did this and it idled just fine...RPM's are normal. Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated. I am thankful for the experienced comments and suggestions received here previously...fuel pressure regulator?

One other thing...a few days last week the fuel gauge was stuck on full. This has never happened before and I know the tnak only had a half tank of gas. It eventually went back to normal. I also fueled the vehicle about 50 miles before this incident occured today. I used the best gas and filled the tank all the way. Fuel filter was replaced a few months ago.
