I have a 1996 BMW 318is M44. I have noticed where the two catalytic converters connect each pipe has its own catalytic converter, those two pipes have a union that connect to each other, from that union water droplets seep from it. Why can that be? Can it be condensation? It is not coolant green but clear like water. Can it be the water pump? My car doesnt over heat it has 238K and i have never changed it. Occasionally i can hear it clunking from the center of the engine bay. I haven't removed the belt to see how loose it can be.

Condensation is normal.

I second Nick on this, should be condensation and it is normal. But if you’re hearing some clunking, it must have loosened. Best to consult your local BMW dealer or search for new auto parts online.
