It's better to ask high first then lower if no action.
And remember this as a mantra: everything sells.
If I were you and if you are serious, you need to post some numbers or at least cobble together some sort of history on the engine. Even at $13.5K that's large coin, and most people would dismiss your motor as a mere core with a couple clean things tacked on to tart it up.
If it were an S motor the game would be different. Unfortunately it's still sort of a pedestrian engine - although it has value. Was it ever rebuilt? Do you know anything about it? I would start with the basics.
Everything is hearsay without the proper docs. Getting around that people resort to lies and trickery and this is where it gets dirty. For me I would want numbers. Even then $13.5K is probably a stretch without any papers.
